Selection & Contours
Van Dyke
Rifle Designs offers only the finest world class rifle barrels.
The barrel makers we use are highly-focused experts with many years of
experience. We prefer the use of Shilen, but will offer Krieger,
Lilja or other barrel makers if the standards are acceptable.
 We
use only select match grade which will cost a little more but is a small
price to pay considering it's place in performance. The barrels are
masterpieces that historically have been proven throughout the world
in virtually every competitive rifle shooting event.
All
barrels are meticulously chambered by precision JGS reaming tools with
live pilots to exacting chamber tolerances. Our tolerances are
held to very tight minimum dimensions so that factory-made ammunition
can fit closely without robbing accuracy. Holding the cartridge
more concentric to the center bore enables the customer to achieve good
accuracy with a variety of factory loaded ammunition choices.
Factory
ammunition has improved somewhat over the years as an attempt to offset
manufacturing fallacies. This improvement can ideally be realized
in a custom rifle design and is profoundly noticeable at the range in a
good rifle that is properly chambered.
Contours
What
size barrel will serve you best? The information below will give you an
idea of the size and weight of every Shilen barrel contour. Dimension
"C" is the muzzle diameter at dimension "F", which
is our suggested finish barrel length.
